Jasper County Citizens First

On June 19, 2018 Joplin News First had a post on Facebook which Citizens Against Crime shared concerning Jacob R. Davis.  The very first line of the post was "$150,000 CASH ONLY BOND SENDS STRONG MESSAGE". My first question is - What strong message? Let's look at some cases that were charged with Armed Criminal Action from 2017 - 1.  Jerold Dunn, 17AO-CR00265, Assault X 2 and Armed Criminal Action X 2, four felony charges. On 3-17-17 his bond was $20,000 CASH.  He was in jail 78 days and judge released him Pretrial Release Program.  August 7, 2017 he failed to appear and showed up for court on 8-21-17 at which time his Pretrial Release Program was reinstated.  He failed to appear again on 1-8-18 and 2-20-18 but managed to show up on 3-12-18 and was sentenced. 2.  Opee W Duvall, 17AO-CR00635, Burglary, Armed Criminal Action, Assault, all felony charges.  His bond was $10,000 cash or surety or $2,000 CASH.  Warrant was served o...

You know, one would wonder why the courts don't learn from past history that certain individuals, no matter how old they are, still have not learned what being "responsible" is all about... so they are probably not going to return on a pinky promise. Case in point - Lenny Turner.  January 5, 2015 a warrant was issued for him on a theft charge. It took 14 weeks and 5 days for the warrant to be served and Mr. Turner took up residency in the Jasper County Jail.  He stayed in custody for 7 days at which time the judge on the case released him on a pinky promise (OR'd) , and guess what -- it's another 26 weeks and 4 days before law enforcement of any kind sees Mr. Turner again.  This time when Mr. Turner is returned to reside at the Jasper County Jail, he stays for 51 days (7 weeks 2 days) and is OR'd again .  However he must have been in custody on some other charges because from what I can tell on case.net,  he was in custody until he pled guilty on 5-4-16 ...
