Felons Free to Go - Lawlessness Continued
On June 19, 2018 Joplin News First had a post on Facebook which Citizens Against Crime shared concerning Jacob R. Davis. The very first line of the post was "$150,000 CASH ONLY BOND SENDS STRONG MESSAGE".
My first question is - What strong message?
Let's look at some cases that were charged with Armed Criminal Action from 2017 -
1. Jerold Dunn, 17AO-CR00265, Assault X 2 and Armed Criminal Action X 2, four felony charges. On 3-17-17 his bond was $20,000 CASH. He was in jail 78 days and judge released him Pretrial Release Program. August 7, 2017 he failed to appear and showed up for court on 8-21-17 at which time his Pretrial Release Program was reinstated. He failed to appear again on 1-8-18 and 2-20-18 but managed to show up on 3-12-18 and was sentenced.
2. Opee W Duvall, 17AO-CR00635, Burglary, Armed Criminal Action, Assault, all felony charges. His bond was $10,000 cash or surety or $2,000 CASH. Warrant was served on 5-31-17, was in jail 35 days and was OR'd.
Neither one of those cases has any entry as to whether or not the prosecution was opposed to their release.
And in 2018 -
1. Gary Skelton, 18AO-CR00024, Burglary, Assault, Armed Criminal Action, all felony charges. Bond was set at $2,500 cash plus $20,000 cash or surety. Warrant was served 1-23-18, he spent 10 days in jail and was released on the Pretrial Release Program.
AND NUMBER TWO JUST BOGGLES MY MIND.
2. Willie J Spencer, 18AO-CR00250, Robbery and Armed Criminal Action, both felony charges. Bond was $25,000 cash or surety plus $25,000 CASH. Warrant was served 2-16-18 and 5 days later the bond was changed to $50,000 surety and Willie Spencer actually found a bonding company that would write the bond. Spencer appeared on 3-7-18 but failed to appear on 4-4-18 and the warrant issued had a $500.00 CASH bond. That's right - FIVE HUNDRED CASH. The warrant was served on 4-9-18 and as of 6-14-18 Mr. Spencer has placed $500.00 with the court on his bond and walked out of the jail. WILLIE J SPENCER FOR GOD'S SAKE. Spencer's next court date is Tuesday June 26 9:00 a.m. - anyone want to take bets on whether or not he will actually show up?
If you are wondering why I am so shocked, go back on this blog and read the February 16, 2018 post with this man's history.
And again, neither one of these cases has any entries as to whether or not the prosecuting attorney opposed their release.
It is a well known fact with the defendants in Jasper County Jail that if you set long enough and keep asking for an OR bond you will get it and will be released back into the public to reek havoc and chaos on the citizens of Jasper County.
Why are our elected court personnel rewarding recidivism?
Why would you, the public who elect them, re-elect them when clearly they are not working for the good of the working/voting constituents?
Do you really agree that the Defendant is the new Victim?
BACK THE BLUE
Take care of each other out there, our elected officials are not going to. HAPPY TRAILS.
