Beyond Safe Limits - Why are Reasonable Bonds Not Being Set?
Monday 4-16-18 there were 285 inmates in the Jasper County jail, Tuesday 4-17-18 there were 289 inmates in the Jasper County jail, Wednesday 4-18-18 there were 285 inmates, and Thursday 4-19-18 there were 269 inmates in the Jasper County jail. I understand if your opinion is "so what's the problem, they wouldn't be there if they did nothing wrong". OK, there are at least 100 more human beings in jail than the jail was built to hold. Do you "Back the Blue"? That is almost 2 X's the capacity of the jail. Their budget can only handle a certain number of employees who are now at twice the risk of something happening to them trying to guard, feed, transport to court 2 X's the capacity of the jail , and make sure that those 2 to 3 inmates per cell get along with each other so a riot is not started and, God forbid, someone dies while in custody.
