Jasper County Criminals & Pinky Promises
Here
is some food for thought. Just want to
put these out there and see what comes back in feedback, feel free to comment.
The following information comes
from court records in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and is concerning Mr. Gary
Tavis, accused of "Tampering with a Motor Vehicle" and the "Burglary". My main attention is to Jasper
County Missouri because of a trend I see happening in our 29th Judicial
District Court system. The information I
am speaking of can all be found online by the general public. The tax paying victim in this situation is being held hostage at the mercy of a pinky promise by Jasper County Missouri Courts.
Mr.
Tavis was arrested 2-19-17 on a Fugitive From Justice warrant which is a Felony
in Missouri. His bond was $50,000 CASH
only. When he went in front of the judge
3 days later he was RELEASED ON HIS OWN RECOGNIZANCE (that's a pinky promise to
show up for you next court date) and given a court date of March 8, 2017 which
he FAILED TO APPEAR for.
So
Mr. Tavis is not seen or heard of again until he is apprehended on three NEW
CHARGES of 1. Delivery of a Controlled
Substance-Felony
2. Tampering with a Motor Vehicle-Felony and
3. Resisting-Felony, with a $25,000 cash or
surety bond.
There
were also other charges that had been filed on 10-17-17 for Burglary - Felony
and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm - Felony, these had a "NO BOND".
Oh, and another Fugitive From Justice charge with a $10,000 CASH only bond.
Tavis
lands in jail and is being seen by the same judge in all 3 new cases. On December 20, 2017 Tavis "waives
extradition", basically meaning he wants to go back to Ottawa County
Oklahoma and take care of his charge there, and on the other two cases he is
bound over for trial in Circuit Court Division 2 and again RELEASES HIM ON HIS
OWN RECOGNIZANCE (a pinky promise to
return for his next court date) on the rest of his charges with a court date of
January 17, 2018.
Now
the victim of the "Tampering with a Motor Vehicle" and the
"Burglary" has to wait until Mr. Tavis decides to return to court
here -- or in the very best scenario he is still in custody with Ottawa County
Oklahoma on the January 17, 2018 and the judge in Division 2 orders a warrant
for "failure to appear" which assures the return of the defendant to
face charges. All of which is costing
the taxpayer of Jasper County more dollars - clerks to type up the warrants,
deputies to receive and catalog the warrant, someone has to pay for the
transportation of Mr. Tavis back to Jasper County Sheriff Department.
And
- Mr. Tavis has charges in Oklahoma and in Kansas for Fugitive, Obstruction,
Larceny, Possession of opiate, but he is out on a pinky promise for charges in
Jasper County. What is going on here???

And people wonder why there so much crime here. It's because there's no real punishment for the criminals. There are a few that seem to be made examples of, but those are very few. The rest are out with a very delicate slap on the wrist.
